Instructions
- Rinse the soaked black-eyed peas under cold water.
- In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion over medium heat until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until golden brown.
- Transfer the peas to your crock pot. Add sautéed onions and garlic, broth, smoked paprika, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
- If using meat, place it on top of the mixture.
