Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 3 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 3 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
- 2 onions, quartered
- 10 garlic cloves, whole
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 3 stalks celery, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat dry.
- Melt the butter over low heat and brush it generously over the turkey.
- Season inside and out with salt and pepper. Stuff with onions, garlic, and herbs.
- Place chopped carrots and celery in a roasting pan as a base for the turkey.
- Position the turkey on top of the vegetables, pouring chicken broth around it.
- Roast for approximately 13–15 minutes per pound until golden brown. Baste every 30 minutes with pan drippings.
